JAM Joyful Amazing Moody: the deconstructed sofa is born

On the occasion of fuorisalone 2010, Jam will be presented, an innovative design for living with a sofa which can take on different forms and functions. The main features of this new product are its multifunctionality and multidimensional properties. Fans and experts alike will be able to see it and touch it. It will be displayed in two different versions and settings, one interior and the other exterior.
Interior: from April 13 -19, a JAM prototype will be available for viewing at SuperStudio 13, in via Forcella 13, Milan.
On Thursday April 15, an event will be held in the same location by invitation only. There will be a concert held featuring the group HANA B, protagonists of the JAM scenography.
Exterior:on the same days, an alternate prototype of the sofa is available for viewing within the amazing setting of ”Terrazza 14”, on via Tortona 14.

CONCEPT_
Improvisation, fantasy, freedom, dynamism: these are just some of the words one can use to describe JAM, a sofa that steers away from classical furniture design concepts. It invites a lively way of finding solutions for different rooms and spaces.
Its name is reminiscent of free musical arrangement, as well as Jazz improvisation, or it reminds one of rhythms typical in Rap and Hip-Hop genres. Even though it seems completely improvised and with no structure, the end result is a seemingly logical progression and continues throughout the piece.

PROJECT_
The design originally stems from an idea of Lorenzo Ferrara that has been further developed by the famous art-designer Paolo Gonzato. This synergy led to the creation of a real contemporary work of art; so simple was the idea as it is essential and roomy.

The deconstruction of the shapes which lends to the flexibility of this new product make JAM a very important element in any setting. It can be useful in defining spaces and is able to fulfill the many needs that people have when organizing a single room as well as bigger spaces.

DESIGN_
JAM is a circular element. It is made of a double filling that can take on particular properties relating to anatomy: the exterior layer can take on any form, effectively creating a soft touch,while the second filling, stiffer, can support a person's body.
The JAM universe can be defined as a“suspended space”;its free form allows for innumerable combinations of intertwining, or it can even be joinedto other “twin-sofas” in a modular system . All these features offer a unique sensation, enabling you to find the best position for yourself.

PRODUCT_
There are two different models available: the first version is 5 meters long with a 40-centimeter diameter, slightly smaller than the second version which is 7 meters long with a 70-centimeter diameter.

Different materials are also available: the interior JAM is made up of a patchwork of multicolored velvet, while the exterior one is covered with a special eco-leather. In both options, the cover can be easily removed and washed.
The sustainable approach to the production of JAM is an essential factor as it allows for the total re-use of production wastes.
